Getting started

1. Create an account

Open the app and sign in with your email. Check your inbox for a verification link before you can sign in. Everything you draw is stored locally on your machine, so the account is only used to unlock the app and, if you want it, cloud sync.

2. Create a project and a scene

From the welcome screen, create a project, then add a scene inside it. A project can hold several scenes, and each scene has its own video and its own drawings.

3. Load a video

Open a video file from your computer. It is read locally and never uploaded anywhere. FrameSketch works with the formats your browser can play, typically MP4, WebM, and MOV.

4. Draw on the frames

Pick a tool from the toolbar: brush, pencil, highlighter, eraser, shapes, text labels, sticky notes, or comments. Every stroke lands on the exact frame you are viewing. Step forward and backward with the arrow keys to draw on the next frame, and turn on onion skin to see the frames around it.

5. Save and share

Your work is saved automatically as you go. Export a project any time as a single .fsk file, optionally password-protected. Send it to anyone, and they can open it and keep working.
